Septic tanks and private wastewater treatment devices need to be pumped out every three to five years.

This must be done by licensed contractors, and disposed of at a licensed septage receival facilty such as Council’s wastewater treatment plant.

There are a number of pump-out contractors servicing the Ballina Shire area. 

Council does not provide pump out facilities for caravans or boat owners.

It is the property owner's responsibility to ensure that septage waste is not contaminated prior to disposal in Council’s wastewater treatment plant.
